LIVERPOOL (U.K.).
We are pleased to hear that Liverpool Shanty Festival is definitely ON. Although considerable economies have
had to be made, there will be a lot of activity on the River and the docks and there will be a number of tall
ships in during the event. The sail training brig, Stavros Niarchos, is offering day sails on the Mersey
Estuary for those who want to experience the real thing!
Dates are now 29th April - 2nd May and 7th & 8th May - 6 days in all.
Performers appearing during the course of the event include: Armstrong's Patent, Staten Island Ferrymen
(Hughie Jones and Trans-Atlantic friends), The Boat Band, Kimber's Men, The Young Un's, Monkey's Orphan,
Richard Grainger and the Steel River Band, Portsmouth Shanty Men, Liverpool Packet, Four 'n' Aft, Trim Rig &
a Doxy, The Liverpool Shanty Kings, Three Sheets to the Wind, Monkey's Fist and The Liverpool Crew.
Performances will take place in and around Liverpool's famous Albert Dock from 11.00am - 6.00 pm each day.
There will also be informal shanty singing each evening in the Baltic Fleet pub.

SOUTHAMPTON (U.K.) JOIN A TALL SHIP SEA SHANTY SAILING VOYAGE
FROM SOUTHAMPTON TO GREAT YARMOUTH.
Opportunities are available for anyone aged 18-75 to join a specially themed sea shanty voyage onboard the
Tall Ships Youth Trust’s 200ft square rigged tall ship "Stavros S Niarchos" when she sails from Southampton
to Great Yarmouth.
The five night voyage will provide the chance to become part of the crew and experience sailing and living
onboard a square rigged Tall Ship. Voyage Crew will be taught how to set the sails, climb the rigging and
helm the ship as well as help with the cooking and cleaning for all of the crew onboard. The voyage is also a
specially themed Sea Shanty voyage. Sea shanty musicians will join the voyage to play a whole host of sea
inspired tunes and encourage sing-along sessions.
Places are available on the voyage from Southampton to Great Yarmouth, 6-11 June, for £399 per person
including all food, soft drinks, safety equipment, use of waterproofs and training. Places are subject to
availability.
